What to do when you’re bored, working from home..? And when there’s no where else to go on a Friday night (or any time). It calls for an at home happy hour, especially if you are also a gin person, this one is for you!

I’ve been getting liquor and wine delivery from Drizly during the locked down, since gin is one of my favorite cocktail bases, I looked up some easy recipe, ha okay by easy I actually literally googled “three ingredients gin cocktail.” I picked The Bee’s Knees, which only requires three ingredients — Gin, Lemon and Honey.

The ingredients used in this cocktail recipe — Gin, Lemon and Honey.

The ingredients used in this cocktail recipe — Gin, Lemon and Honey.

The Bee’s Knee is a Prohibition-era cocktail classic, the ingredients are really easy to find, I picked this bottle of gin because of its packaging (it does make an aesthetic pleasing photo!)

The Aloo Gin from Oola distillery is a London dry style gin and it has a pretty strong juniper in my opinion, if you’re not as into the juniper notes, I would recommend to try Hendrick’s instead.

Below is the recipe I’ve found and how I made it.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces gin

  • 3/4 ounces fresh lemon juice

  • 1/2 ounces honey syrup*

  • Garnish: lemon twist

I actually doubled everything and added the ice in because I used a tall glass, it’s not a bad idea if you’re looking for an extra-buzzed feeling!

Steps

  1. Honey Syrup: Mix equal parts honey and water together until they are all blended nicely. You could use a microwave-safe bowl or a saucepan on low heat to warm it and stir the honey into the water. Set a side and let it cool.

  2. Fill the shaker with ice.

  3. Pour in the lemon juice, honey syrup, and gin. Fasten the lid and shake until the mixture is very cold, about 30 seconds. You can feel it from holding the shaker.

  4. Strain the drink into your preferred glass. Twist the lemon peel to have some oil dropped into the drink, and voila!

This makes me wanna try and make more cocktails and play with the different ingredients. What is your favorite cocktail? And what cocktail would you like to recreate with your personal touch?
